A Dream

Sitting under the shade of a tree
leisurely awaiting nothing
sleepily enjoying the breeze
wanting the dream to last

The lake at my feet so still
so serenely still
everything so surreal
just lying there

Time floating by at its own pace
gently swirling through the air
I can feel it brush against my face
I want to close my eyes

To slip away
to paradise
above me the trees sway
rustling in the wind

the sun so orange
the grass so green
his rays keep me warm
the burden of my weight relaxed on her earth

Dreams in dreams
I want to stay
the sun forever beams
bare feet on the grass

An eternity cut short
the father who looms over all is here
with strong wind at my back
I must leave port

and set sail for reality
